This interactive session will demonstrate how to infuse information from the content areas into predictable, patterned texts known as Recycled Stories (Feathers, 2004).  Students can use the structure of an existing story as a model for a new text.  The patterned story provides the format while the informational material under study provides the content.  This format reveals that students' understanding of the topic goes beyond memorizing names, dates, and events.  Participants will gain information of how to implement this strategy in their classrooms through demonstration.  Participants will then work in small groups to apply the strategy and lastly, share what they have done.  Location: Room 112
